Heading North

Road Trip tomorrow.  My brother and I are heading North to the Cabin for a few days of R&R.
Kim will be heading South to visit with her brother and family in Socal.
While I look forward to some time at the Cabin and spending some good time with my brother, I am very much cognizant of the fact that I will miss Kim and that I do not look forward to.  We make choices and in so doing we do not always achieve balance in our day to day lives.  Being aware of out of balance situations and going through the hard feelings is not what one looks forward to, no not at all.  Yet that which does us no real harm or physcial threat stands possible to make us in some way....stronger.  I enjoy a strong relationship with Kim, a loving one and therefore I can rely on that as fact when I feel I am missing her.  Hey, remember ...note to self : ENJOY IT ALL!

By the Numbers

I do log the time and distances I run, swim and cycle.  Sometimes I push myself towards a number, thus working harder and hopefully gaining fitness if I do it correctly.  Out on the mountain bike this morning, I was keeping a close eye on the mph meter, trying to reach a 15 mph average over the 20 mile ride, I just missed it at 14.9 but it was a good effort and my legs feel it...

Lance Out

Lance Armstrong had to give up the Tour of California yesterday after a crash.  He took a few stitches and reportedly is okay.  In addition accusations made by Floyd Landis a former teammate on the US Postal Team, point at Lance and many others having used banned substances including blood doping.  A sad day in cycling...

Everyday

Everyday is the day.  It is today it is the here and now.  Live it. Why not love it?  Whatever you do, whoever you are, wherever you are...this day is to be lived.  You will live it and so you may as well do what you can do enjoy the day, this day and Everyday...
Enjoy it all.

Bike  62/20 miles/stationary.
Run  67/6 miles/road run.
Ran the tank to very low on energy the last couple of miles, managed to enjoy the fatigue and lack of energy feeling.  Enduring pain or mental fatigue is not always an easy or simple thing to achieve, though when achieved and the running is over and done, you can feel good having accomplished and endured the challenge within.

Live2Train/Train2Live

Training is an every day kind of thing.  Even if we take a rest day, it's part of our training program.  Like the locomotive, we burn fuel for energy.  Our muscles take up oxygen in large quantities when we go aerobic...distance running combined with cycling will get you fit over time if you are consistent in your dedication and approach. Train yourself for fitness and you will become a more efficient locomotive.  Thus you may live a more rewarding life.  In any event...enjoy it all!

Necessary Duathalon

Today's Workout:  Fully energized this AM. Up early and ready to go gettum.  Got through my warm up and core exercise's and headed to the fit center.  Prepared myself for an hour on the treadmill.  Got to about 20 minutes and a strain along my inner thigh muscle really bothered me, I slowed but the pain persisted.  I got off the treadmill and on the stationary bike for a 20 mile spin, no pain there.  I was able to then get back on the treadmill and very slowly complete another 43 minutes worth of running/jogging.  Don't know how or why that pain/strain is coming from.  Glad I could compensate and get my miles in...will monitor the pain and go from there.  2/20/4 Duathlon.

Mother's Day 2010

My Mom, loved the Redwoods and the beaches along the California coast.  She was a dynamic person, part teacher, protector and community activist, she maintained always a sense of good humor.  Mom could be tough and stubborn for what she believed was right.  Above all she loved her children.  Lots of challenges in life came her way, she was inspirational by action and deed.  She taught us kids to do right, to live within our means, to do our best and that work is an essential good.  No words of mine can do her justice.  She has passed on from this earthly plane, though she lives on in the best parts of her children.
Happy Mother's Day.  Mom:  "Be Good"
