More Pre
What would Steve Prefontaine be doing today
if he had survived the night of May 30, 1975?
Would he be a Nike executive or board member?
Would he be running his own company?
Coaching? Commentating?
Would he be a US Senator?
We cannot know, though all are possible.
I imagine he would have moved to the marathon
in the late seventies or early 80's.
I imagine he would continue to run for
recreation and for health, he would be
about 60 this year.
Whatever the case...
Pre lives on...

NOTES ON
LE TOUR 2011
Watched a bit of the Tour De France, version 2011.  It wrapped up Sunday.  Cadel Evans of Australia wins the overall. Andy and Frank Schleck: 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The real story for me was Tom Voekler of France.  He managed to win a breakaway stage and hold on for 9 days as the leader, he rode magnificently in the mountains with great determination to hold onto the yellow jersey.  For a rider not known as a climber he just rode so well right next to the star climbers for so long, we thought he just might find a way to win.  He did not.  He finsihed 4th overall.  Awesome job Tommy V!
The words are: Determination, persaverance, pride, inspiration!

More 70's Lore

PRE
As a freshman at Oregon in 1970.
Captures the cover of SI and the dreams
of track and middle distance runners
throughout the USA.
He lit up the running world
for just a short time...

Exhausted

Monday July 18, 2011
X77, WT
TRun  53/5+ miles
SRBike 20/5.33 miles
A productive exercise weekend leaves me
somewhat less energized this morning...
The right ankle pain continues
and I continue to take Naproxin twice a day.
After 15 minutes on the treadmill at a slow jog pace
the pain slipped away and I could run a bit faste pace...
Enjoy it all
