Today's Thoughts:
I have been reading a biography about Ted Williams, the great baseball player. It is a fascinating read about a complex man. From an early age, Ted decided to concentrate all of his efforts towards baseball, mainly hitting. His record in baseball attests to his success in that endeavor. The other parts of his life are even more interesting. His relations with fans, the regular Joe on the street, sportswriters, his own children, teammates, are varied and range from lifetime battles to lifetime friendships. Perhaps this is no different than the many relationships we all share both good and bad throughout our lives. His last years are lived with increasing struggles and debilitating health problems. He lived a very full and mostly very healthy life for 75 years, complex and confusing full of himself and helping those less fortunate along the way.
It is a great book about a most interesting man living life always by his own rules. Living by his own rules brings him both great fame and fortune as well as suffering. There are a number of lessons to be learned from this book, I am still reading and working to absorb it all, don't know that I will figure it all out, but if I do, I'll let you know. In the meantime, do the best you can and be great.
